      21. EDITING IN PBWorks

The editor in PBWorks looks and acts a lot like that in the MS WORD (1995-2003). The main difference in our experience is that there are fewer font types and sizes. This means that when you copy from a word processing file (like that from MS WORD) to paste in a PBWorks wiki page, the result may not look exactly the same.

Start editing a page

            Click the “Edit” tab

Save edited page

            Click the “Save” button

Create a new page

From any page click on “Create a page” text link

Enter page name in “Name your page” textbox

Click   “Create page” button

(“Edit” tab already selected)

Click “Save” button when finished

Copy and paste text (only)

Select the text to be copied (e.g., from an MS WORD file)

Click “Ctrl C” or right-click “Copy”

Click on the “Edit” tab in the wiki page

Click the “Paste” button in the Editor

Click the “Save” button when finished

Establish hyperlinks

            Click on the “Edit” tab

Select the text to act as a link

Click on “Insert a link to a new page”

Select “Link Type” as “PBWorks page” (or other option)

            Select “Page”

            Click “Save” button

Load files

Note: images cannot be pasted directly into a page. They must be in a file (e.g., a *.jpg).

Loading a file is a two stage process. In the first the file is put on a general list available to all pages. In the second, the file is selected from the list and the contents placed in the page.

Stage 1

            Click the “Upload files” link

            Click the “Upload files” button

            Select the file to upload

Click the “Open” or “Select” button to upload

(This puts the file on the list)

Stage 2

            Click the “Edit” tab

            Click “Images and files”

Select the file to go on the page

(This puts the content of the file on the page)

            Click the “Save” button
