22. CREATING THE PAGES IN THE SOURCE CASE WIKI
In most instances the easiest way to create the web pages for a new wiki is to copy those from an existing wiki and/or word processing file, then paste them into the PBWorks page, and subsequently establish the appropriate hyperlinks.
Pages for the Variables
For our particular source case, let us start the creation by entering the variables – one per web page -- from the variable list. The result should be a series of interconnected web pages like those in TP Page7, TP Page8, and TP Page17.
The process is as follows for each variable:
1) Click the “Create a page” link and then enter the name for the new page, in all capital letters, being the same as the variable’s ID code (like LPCLONE in TP Page8).
2) Get into “edit” mode (click the “Edit” tab).
3) Copy the information on the variable from the variable list and paste it by clicking the “Paste” button in the PBWorks editor.
4) Save the edit by clicking the “Save” button.
5) Check the result. If the layout does not look quite right, try clicking the “Edit” tab and the “Save” button in order again.
When that process is complete for all variables, go through each variable’s page and make the links with its influencing and influenced variables. This is done by:
1) Highlighting the ID code (only) of a selected influencing or influenced variable.
2) Right clicking the highlighted text.
3) Selecting the source case wiki page to which to link.
Informational Pages
The next step is to create the “informational” pages. There can be as many as seven of these:
Case Description (or use Summary)
Case Causal Diagram (optional)
Case Glossary
Case References
Case Web Page References (optional)
Case Categories (Ontology)
Case Summary
For all of these you start, as before, by:
Clicking the “Create a page” link and then entering the name for the new page, which should be the same, respectively, as that in the immediately preceding list. The subsequent action would be to click the “Edit” tab. Then copy the general format (e.g., the page title) from another case
The case summary (see below) can be employed for the first item. Otherwise you are free to describe the case in any way, and at any length, you want.
For the (optional) causal diagram, you need to save it in a picture file (e. g., a *.jpg), then load the file in the manner described in Sec. 21.
The quickest way to complete the next three types of pages listed above then would be to copy the substance from the material already gathered subsequent to completion of the variable list (e.g., the actual references).
For the sixth page, as mentioned in Sec. 17, the contributor is encouraged to copy and use the provided ontology found in:
http://pagenome-compass.pbworks.com/PA+Genome+Ontology
Otherwise you can make up your own words and type them in the page in a format similar to that in the above link.
Finally, the case summary should be created in the format of Appendix B either directly into the page or copied over.
The Frontpage
The last page to be developed actually is the first: the FrontPage.
1) From any page, click the “FrontPage” link to return to the (already created) case FrontPage.
2) Click the “Edit” tab.
3) Copy the FrontPage substance from another case. (e.g., that shown in TP Page6)
4) Paste it into the current source case FrontPage.
5) Edit the text material.
6) (Re) establish the hyperlinks to the appropriate pages in the current source case.
7) Click the “Save” button.
Note: The “substance” of the FrontPage, as demonstrated in TP Page6, should include a link to the main or most central variable in the case (in our situation we have selected the “bottom line” or “goal” variable PRIVVIO “Privacy Violation” – see TP Page2 and TP Page7).
Note: The “substance” also should include a link back to the main COMPASS wiki FrontPage: http://pagenome-compass.pbworks.com.
The SideBar
This completes the FrontPage except for one item: the Sidebar, which is the set of links common to every page in the wiki. TP Page6 and TP Page8, for example, show five hyperlinks in the Sidebar:
Using COMPASS: which should be linked to the informational page in the main wiki: http://pagenome-compass.pbworks.com/Using+COMPASS
Basic Template for a Variable: which should be linked to the template page (see Appendix A) in the main wiki
http://pagenome-compass.pbworks.com/Template+for+a+Variable
Case Categories (Ontology): which should be linked to the associated source case page (e.g., http://transport-privacy.pbworks.com/Case+Categories).
Case Glossary: a list of case acronyms and abbreviations, which should be linked to the associated case page (e.g., http://transport-privacy.pbworks.com/Case-Glossary).
Case References: which should be linked to the associated case page (e.g., http://transport-privacy.pbworks.com/Case+References). Note that web page references may be placed in a separate page, accessible from the case FrontPage.
The process here thus is to:
1) In the sidebar box, click “Edit the sidebar”.
2) Type in the three options listed above.
3) Establish the appropriate hyperlinks.
4) Click on the “Save” button.
